Welcome to my idea bank!

I am starting this blog to track my ideas, thoughts, and progression in the miraculously diverse world of coffee. My name is Daniel (Dan) Griffin; a 26 year old guy from Calgary, Alberta whose biggest career achievements thus far have nearly put me asleep each time I’ve thought of them.

That’s not a good thing… right? We all have a path that society has conditioned us to take, or at least think is correct, but is it correct for today or for tomorrow? What stops us from exploring a path related to something that we would do for fun every night after work anyway (or in the case of coffee, before work)? I have found myself tossing away my passions in the pursuit of something comfortable to appease society. After reading ‘Crush It!’ by Gary Vaynerchuk in the summer of 2021, I came to understand that I’m attempting to appease and audience that’s not paying attention to me anyway.

I find myself at a crossroads, recently having moved to a new city I am in need of a job. Working as a Business Analyst in financial technology for a little over two years since graduation has given me the resume to land a decent paying, comfortable job – but I know it won’t make me happy. Much like my colleagues and friends from back home, I have goals and ambitions but have been waiting for a comfortable way to achieve them.. but such a thing doesn’t exist, and if it does, I wouldn’t appreciate the opportunity for what it is when it does arrive. My favorite success quote to this day was spoken by Henry Ford and reads: “Whether you think you can, or you can’t, you’re right.” Ford and the Ford Motor Company gave us the 9-5 workday we seek to escape, and the wisdom to do it.

So here I am. I am by all means in a neutral starting point to create a brand that will evolve into a household name for the everyday coffee enthusiast and the 5 minute grab-and-go brewer alike. If you choose to subscribe to my page and gift me with a few moments of your time each week, my promise to you is a truthful account of my experience taking the leap away from the comfort that I always thought I needed.

A little of what to expect – I aim to learn all common methods of brewing, roasting, and serving coffees of many variations.

I will arrive at success through trial, error, and repetition.

I will create invaluable and easily digestible information through my learnings.
